The construction of Thompson Falls Dam in 1911 on the Clark Fork River created a wonderful reservoir. Launch your boat, kayak or canoe and fish or swim off the dock at Goose Landing Park. Take a walk from downtown across the Gallatin Bridge to Island Park and experience the historic High Bridge and views of the dam and lower Clark Fork River. The addition of a fish ladder allows visitors to witness how the hydroelectric facility mitigates fish passage for the endangered Bull Trout as they make their difficult journey up-stream.
