BIKING THE CLARK FORK RIVER TRAIL #223

The trail runs through the Lolo National Forest, hugging the east bank of the Clark Fork River from Paradise to St. Regis. The smooth, nine mile single-track is almost entirely rideable; it’s a lot of fun as you roll up and down through thick forest, open meadow sections and dive down to the river banks surrounded by dark, lush old growth forest. Enjoy the solitude where the only sounds you hear are the rushing river, an occasional train across the canyon and the birds. Technical, lush and and well worth it to ride this out of the way place. Just another secret gem hidden in Sanders County, Montana!

Directions: From I-90 northwest of Missoula exit at Highway 135 at St. Regis OR head south on #135 from Highway 200 West east of Paradise. The parking lot and trail head are located at MM 14 on the west side of the highway by the 14 Mile Bridge. Trail is 9 miles each way (18 round-trip) and starts under train tressel.

Once you’re done biking, check out the hot springs to soak weary muscles available at Quinn’s Hot Springs, located a couple of miles north of the trail head on Highway 135.
